what course are you applying for and where??
this section is crucial because it is the only part of the application where you have the chance to select and emphasise points about yourself.
basically you need to emphasise your future career aspirations and the reason for choosing the course. writing about your relevant background or experience, which may include work experience or work shadowing, practial activity in music or theatre, attendance at various courses that will all help to secure a place or at least an interview at the university. do you have interests including sports, you may have that are not strictly relavant to the course, but help to give an impression of you as a person.
* always thinck about the impression you want to give.
* organise your material
* don't pack too much into the lines if you are writing it.
* check spelling
just dont write like this:
i have been interested in accounting for quite a long time and that's been one of the reasons i took up accounts at gcse. i was hoping to do accounts at a-level but it was not available at my school. i have had some experience in accounting during year 10 at school.
i found a placement at electrolux accounts department for a week and enjoyed it very much. we were unable to do work work experience in year 12 due to insurance problems. i think the career prospects are good for accounting with many rewards.
i am quite active and enjoy sports like squash, tennis, football and golf. my main sport is gold* and i am a member of the local gold* club playing off a handicap of 12. i have represented my school at gold* last year and hope to play again this year.
the general impression is somewhat superficial and negative however it has a few useful points to it. this example has not given enough thought to the impression created on a critical reader.
