dr david kelly was the weapons expert who may have committed suicide sparking the hutton inquiry. he was andrew gilligan's source for the bbc editoral saying the labour government "sexed up" iraqi intelligence to go to war. that sparked an awesome row with campbell and then the hutton inquiry.

ad- you forget i took a trip to the uk to see tony blair get reelected.

it's a shame that your prime minister is always on the news, isn't it?

timb, i don't think the labour party were always so bad. it's new labour, they're the part to blame.

i'm glad too.

why are people do down on voting? just now in class this girl said she wouldn't register to vote because she doesn't care about politics. man! i'm not a politician, but i like the ability to have a direct say on my governement. the only thing that angers me more than ignorant f*ckwits are people who don't vote yet bitch about the government and politicians.

i'm not old enough to remember old labour. idealistically i lie somewhere between both the labour and conservatives, even though there is very little to pick between the two.

i'm in favour of total provision of public services aka labour whilst maintaining the lowest possible taxation and preserving individual and corporate freedoms aka conservatives.

many people are like that. i like the fact that you say "lowest possible taxation." most people want all the public services and none of the taxes to fund them sufficiently. in american corporations have too much freedom (such as not paying taxes) and has made me bitter.

sheep. my god you are thick. bush still went to war when there wa[i]s[/s] loads of people against it here. if you are offended by this, vote him out. take some initiative. you strike me as the type of person who will sit somewhere in a shell suit eating burgers, drinking larger, and bitching that the goverment is gone to hell, yet you won't vote.

it's nice to see you make a post longer than 2 words or 2 emoticons.

From what I've read and what've I've been told about old Labour, New Labour are much better. Still shit but better. Each government has some really crappy sides to them and it becomes the voting for the lesser of two evils.
During the early 90's when everyone started hating the conservatives and it was all like Labour save us save us, now they're saying labour are crap, errr, no one can save us. Conservatives these days don't seem to have much of a public voice, or prehaps it's just Blair-ism has such a big voice.

Oh well, am off to the pub for last orders. Laters.

I wasn't really into politics when old labour were around, so I've only suffered through new labour, which I despise. Though I think the best politician out there has to be Tony Benn, so if old labour were all like him they can't have been that bad. Granted, when old labour were in power they screwed the economy up (as did the conservatives after them and new labour after them) but I think their ideology was probably better.

ha the one thing you cant claim is that new labour have screwed up the economy. true manufacturing is suffering but thats a long standing trend. to be fair to the tories they brought us back from crap in the 70s but then took it the other way...

Good to know, thanks!
