I think you should always be suited and booted for a job interview, it absolutely goes without saying. You're trying to make a good impression. OK, if you're invited and they say to dress casually, that would be the only exception in my opinion, but that wouldn't happen very often.

Put it down to that if it makes you feel better - but having spent years interviewing people for jobs from filing clerk to legislation specialist I can tell you now, if you go to an interview - ANY interview - looking like you haven't taken it seriously enough to look smart, you won't get the job.

haha, that's exactly what I meant! nah, I mean relative to wearing trainers or something similar, heels can hurt at the end of a day (or evening out). but it's only like if you were to stand up all day for your job, or schlep around town all day - the balls of your feet get sore. it's no big deal. and I love them enough to cope with it.

I agree Yudster, its a basic requirement to show mild interest in gaining this job.... Again, speaking from experience of being the interviewer, a shower is a pretty basic 'must do' too.... And don't smoke a ciggy before walking into building....

And while i'm on the subject, turn up to work ontime too, like ongoing.... As a boss myself, my view is, if you can't be bothered to turn up on time, don't bother at all..... Sure, odd exceptions to this rule do makepeople late, but as general rule, SORT IT!!!!!!!!

And to add to all that - if there are basic spelling or grammatical errors on the application form, there won't be an interview - because however suitable for the job you might be, I know that I will have a bunch of others just as suitable who DID bother to spell and punctuate correctly.

I have been late twice in the four years I've worked here... once was my fault, I overslept by an hour and a half. The other time my boss was also late, due to being stuck in the same traffic (an unexpected jam where I've never seen traffic build up before).

Having a tattoo is common. Where the tattoo is placed is common. What the tattoo is of is what can vary. Mine is certainly individual and relevant to me. But yes, it's on my arm, just below my shoulder.

Yep, one of mine has my grandparents' initials on it, and one is in memory of the baby I lost. People who are prejudiced against those with tattoos don't care about that stuff tho. They've mind up their mind about tattoos and people who have them, so that sort of information won't make a difference to their feelings.

This all relates back to the whole reason I mentioned my tats - I just have them because I love the way they look and they are meaningful to me, it's not really important to me what other people think of them, I'm not out to change people's perceptions of those with tats. Thus illustrating my original point that my appearance is about pleasing myself and not men. Hurray!

Sometimes they do look horrible though. I was with a group of friends and one of them has a tattoo on his forearm - it is quite big, and has lots of detail and close up it is very pretty - but from any kind of distance it just looks like he needs a good wash.

Some of mine are, but a lot of mine are big statement pieces and I really like that. In fact if I went back and did them again I'd probably go for a few big ones rather than the smaller ones I have. I think when I started out I was a bit afraid to get something really big in case I didn't like it or it hurt too much!

I've never been asked to go to the lengths of peeling labels off things.. surely that's just paper in most cases, which can also be recycled. Ok, there'll be some glue on there as well, but you're bound to get residual glue on the item you're recycling when you peel the label off.
