I am a firm believer in freedom of speech and I will pretty much always defend people's right to express their opinions, even if they are to say the show is a pile of crap. But that comment left such a nasty taste in my mouth that it made me wonder if it was sufficient reason for a banning. Alas, I don't think it is.

Members of the team read these forums, Dave could easily read this thread to see what people are thinking. How would he feel if he read that about him and his own father? Loosing a parent, luckily something I have yet to experience, must be horrible and I am pretty sure the pain NEVER goes away. Dave's marriage has broken down, he's left his marital home, the home where his daughter lives with her mum and moved all of his stuff into a flat, where he's now living on his own - on the day of his fathers death. It doesn't matter if it was 1 year ago or 20 years ago, that day will always stick with him no matter what.

To make such a nasty comment like that was vile and out of order especially for somebody as nice as Dave, who is one of lives good guys.

The forum rules state no personal insults, private conversations, libellous or illegal material or abuse towards other board members, so this doesn't fall under any of those headings. Chris retains the right to ban anyone else who he deems to be causing disharmony (is that a word?) on the board, but that would be his decision, not mine.

It's easy to gob-off when there's no recourse. It's easy to be spiteful when you're behind a keyboard.

My dad died 30 years ago. I still talk about him a lot and think about him a lot. If someone said that to me, well he wouldn't say it twice.

When ever you lose someone you don't get over it no matter how long it has passed since they died. My father hasn't got over the loss of his sister and it was 25 years ago. Plus Dave was pointing it out that he moved out the former marital home the exact same day that his father died 9 years ago. So it was a poignant day for him. So give the man some slack and stop being nasty. He wasn't wallowing in self pity he was just stating facts. If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all, that was a nasty comment.

He clearly has a personal dislike of Dave and likes to use this forum as a place to vent his issues. As a fan site, not just of Moyles but of the show as well, I think Bedford needs to be told to change his tune or eff off.

What a vile, nasty & shallow person you are, most people find it hard to get over a loved one, you never forget people especially those that were close to you, they always pop in to your mind from time time.

I don't see how anybody could genuinely be a fan of the show and dislike/hate Dave as much as Dave Bedford does. Dave is pretty much integral to the show and if you hate him that much I fail to see how it couldn't severely impinge on your enjoyment of the show as a whole.

I am reluctant to call for Bedford to be banned, but I don't see why he is here.

I think I've mentioned that in reply to one of his posts before. Dave writes a lot of the material and provides a lot to the show and its gotta be impossible to love the show and hate Dave but Dave Bedford seems to be able to do it somehow.

Dave is an integral part of the show. It maybe The Chris Moyles Show by name but for me its the Chris and Dave show, with input from Aled, Dom and Tina. The show in my opinion is poorer in some respects when Dave isn't there, most recent example when Olly filled in, it just wasn't the same for me.

I agree with that. Being a pedant I would put Dom in a category of his own ahead of Aled and Tina, but you are spot on otherwise in my opinion. Chris is obviously the senior partner, but without Dave the show wouldnt be the same at all.

I agree with you on that with Dom, he is on his own when it comes to the show. He adds the comedy factor too. I had to put Tina at the end because in my opinion she and i hate to say it doesn't seem to contribute enough to the show. So she is last in my thoughts when it comes to the show.

Unfortunately as it happens, my father passed away at the beginning of last month. And i don't think i'll ever get over it, but mine & others misfortune doesn't mean theres a need to ban anyone for saying something crass. If he said that as some sort of joke, well fine, many thought it wasn't funny, i'm sure he can live with that. If he actually meant it, well fine too, he has to live with himself , lets hope no-one else has to.
Its only his own fault he's a wanksnatch & theres f**k all the rest of us can do about it.
But this isn't Digispy ( thank God) we should be able to take it & dish it out too. We don't want anyone getting prissy & screaming for bans because some prick thinks he clever. F**k him.

If you think I'm a queen, that's fine, go ahead and think it. I have no interest whatsoever in hiding my feelings with regard to that comment in order to manage anyone's expectations of me.

What I said is that on a personal level I'd like to ban him, but he hasn't actually contravened any rules. I was interested to hear what others think and as I expected, some people agree with me and some don't. Such is debate.
