But if hed got stayed on then ok he could have got a hat trick but there was a chance that he could also have got a yellow card and so when england went through to play portugal and thats when they will need him and he would have been out of the game.

They knew that they were far enough ahead to be safe and take him off. There will be other opportunities for him to get his hat trick anyway
