now see its that kind of attitude that men must have had when women couldn't vote.... and look what happened, there was a movement to get women the vote, and happily, it worked.

16 year olds voting lmfao

you may laugh, but think about it a second,

1) it's more THEIR future than ,say, a 75 year old
2)at 16 you can get married, or join the army and therefore fight to protect it.
3)Their was a survey by the British Household Panel 2001-02 which suggested that nearly 30% of 15-17 year olds said they were either very interested or fairly interested in politics - higher than the equivalent figure for 18-20 year olds.
5)Lets face it, a lot of people who have the ability to vote don't have a clue what or who they are voting for and just vote for whoever they vote for because they overheard some random conversation in asda (other places are available)
4)Over 18 year old Chavs ALREADY HAVE THE VOTE!

brilliant! I'd love to see a politician try to sell it from that angle. Well them f*ckers will be dead soon so why let them vote?

Hahaha - so why not let 10 year olds have the vote then? Ok, an extreme example, but it's the same point

2)at 16 you can get married, or join the army and therefore fight to protect it.

You can only get married at 16 with your parent's concent, so perhaps voting should done with something similar in mind? Fair point about the army thing though.

3)Their was a survey by the British Household Panel 2001-02 which suggested that nearly 30% of 15-17 year olds said they were either very interested or fairly interested in politics - higher than the equivalent figure for 18-20 year olds.

Which leaves 70% who aren't. Such a high percentage surely tells you something is wrong. Perhaps we should look at raising the voting age rather than lowering it. Plus statistics can prove anything - 40% of people believe that.

5)Lets face it, a lot of people who have the ability to vote don't have a clue what or who they are voting for and just vote for whoever they vote for because they overheard some random conversation in asda (other places are available)

So why add even more people who don't give a toss into the mix?

4)Over 18 year old Chavs ALREADY HAVE THE VOTE!

And don't use it, so why give 16 year old Chavs the oppertunity to waste it?

Of course at the end of the day the voting age will only be lowered if the Party in power thinks that the majority of 16-17 year olds will vote for them.

Has anyone noticed all the billboards advertising for the various parties lately? ALL the ad campaigns seem to be heavily based on slagging off the other parties. I know it's nothing new but why?
why not focus on theyre own oh-so-great policies for a change?

Found something quite funny on the way home from work today, literally yards from the Veritas office in Ilkeston theres a bloody great billboard for the conservatives... you see the billboard and then the crappy little office as you come up the hill into Ilkeston town centre.
