I haven't watched a whole lot of Everton, but the two or three matches I have seen, Baines didn't stand out at all. And he looks like he should be playing for Ipswich Town in 1975.

And as for Baines he is an excellent left back but will need to play for a top side before he can be considered great. It's all well and good playing well against Wigan but you need to do it week in and week out against the top sides in world football. He'd be a good fit for Spurs.

Baines is comfortably the best left full-back in the premier league and arguably one of the best in Europe (I don't have any proper knowledge outside of that).

He's better than most left sided players in possession and better than any other without possession.

In David Moyes's Everton tenure, he's had 48 away league games against Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, how many of those games has he won?

Strange that the results against Tottenham and Man City are conveniently ignored.

Cherry picking results against any four unconnected sides can prove whatever you want it to prove. The fact is, that as Everton have evolved into "the best of the rest", teams challenging for honours (and Liverpool) are less likely to field weaker sides against us as they are against the likes of Stoke (and Liverpool) thus it's comparatively more difficult for us to win against these teams as our squad is nowhere near good enough.

To be fair, Arsenal probably don't have the best record when it comes to the top teams over the last 5 years or so. Moyes has worked wonders on a relatively small budget (net transfer spend of £17m since he took over) - while only being in threat of relegation once to my mind (I could be wrong).

I think he's a great manager, and Everton are a team with fantastic potential. If any club in the league sacked their manager, I'm sure Moyes would be on their shortlist.

I suspect Moyes' balance sheet is actually closer to £0 than £17m - but even at £17m over 11 years, it's not so much of a relatively small budget, but a non-existent budget.

We've got a good first team, but our squad only has about 13 first team level players, so we're at least half a dozen players short of what we need to move on from bumbling around in the top ten.

And given our chairman has precisely zero ability to develop the business of the club, we're not going to get those players, so sooner or later he'll be off and we'll be screwed.
