You can kind of understand why he feels the way he does, but the professional thing to do would be to keep those feelings to himself.

When you're a double world champion and a 'rookie' driver comes in (as Mark Blundell seems to like to refer to him every single time he speaks) and is quite clearly on a par with you, it must be difficult to deal with; however he has made a meal of dealing with it.

Yeah I think he only made it worse with his claim that 'he' made the McLaren faster. I doubt this somehow, especially in light of recent events. I also doubt he had the kind of insight and involvement in car development that guys like Senna, Schumacher and (to a certain extent) Hill had.

He's still not the biggest Drama Queen of them all: that award must go to a certain Mr Mansell.

My opinion of Alonso is that he's just another World Champion and while that, in itself, is an impressive accolade, he'll never be one of the greats. The likes of Fangio, Stewart, Lauda, Senna, Prost and Schumacher, in my opinion, can all be considered greats, and though Senna had won no races prior to his fatal crash in the 1994 season, I'd have backed him to win that season and more after that. I'd also add John Surtees to that list, purely for being the only man to have won World Championships in both bikes and cars. Potentially, you could be adding Hamilton to the list in years time, but note the word 'potentially'. I don't think Alonso has any potential for being on the list whatsoever.

Yep agree with all of that, although he does apparently think more highly of himself than others do.

Far outweighed by the tragic death of Rally legend Colin McRae though.
