What is it with Scotchers? They can never decide if they live in the centre of the universe, or the back end of nowhere. Or maybe both!!

In footballing terms, we're definitely the back end of nowhere. Two big fish in an ever decreasing size pond.

It is a problem, and has been for a long time - I still think Celtic and Rangers would both struggle in the Premiership, and I'm sure they have no desire to go into the Championship - but its equally clear that the SPL has nothing to offer them. Its a good job football is just a game.

The team that went to Seville and then went and knocked Barca out of the UEFA Cup the following season would easily have held their own in the Premiership. The Barca season they were as unbeatable as Arsenal - though admittedly Celtic got bored after they officially clinched the title and then lost where Arsenal held on to the end. It was after that that O'Neill had other issues to deal with at home and Celtic stopped spending money. Since then the gap has increased considerably.

But even today the Premiership's got four decent teams, a handful of decent teams, and a bunch of teams at the bottom full of mercenaries and journeymen. It's not the all singing all dancing league that Sky market it as. The problem Celtic and Rangers have now is that they almost exclusively have young Scottish SPL players. Both of them have been forced to do that because of the money in the game where just a few years ago they were spending big and trying to compete with English teams on wages.

Bollocks. Fulham v West Ham is just as piss ass boring as and Old Firm game recently. I can't watch an English Premiership match unless it's between two of the big four. With the possible exception of Everton or Chelsea.

I do enjoy the Championship playoffs though. So maybe the key is to get two pishy teams. Oh, that was Quincy's point in the first place, my apologies!

Seriously, Old Firm games of late have been dire. There's been four this year. The first one was a cracker (we lost 4-2) but the other three were 1-0, 0-0 and 2-0 after extra time (so it was 0-0 after 90 minutes). I'm fully expecting the last one next month to be as boring.

Which will be fine if we win.

Spurs were doing fine before that shocking penalty decision. After that they lost the luck and organisation.

94th minute penalty for Partick Thistle is the only reason it's not just about official.

To be honest, I can't see Thistle winning away to Dundee on the final day, even if they do beat Airdrie and St Johnstone lose at home to Morton this week (possible given Morton's current form). Even if they do, it will be St Johnstone's turn to beat Airdrie.

Something I'm all in favour of, I hate Airdrie.

My first ever football game yesterday. Oxford Vs Northwich Victoria and we lost 2-1. But it was still an amazing experience.
The Kassam stadium is apparently pretty big for a Blue Square pitch, and the atmosphere (at least before the match) was great. I admit I did have some pre-conceptions about football crowds but those were gone when I got there, everyone was having a laugh at the bar with a massive inflatable football and there were loads of kids around, which made for more of a family atmosphere than I expected. There were some twats who were running on to the pitch but the rest of the crowd seemed to distance themselves from them (chanting for them to get off etc).

It was interesting watching the match from a goal-end rather than side-on like on TV. It puts things in different perspectives.

All in all a very enjoyable experience. Despite the score.
