i made a mistake, a stupid one.
i have a laptop and i connected it with bt broadband so i go on it as well as this computer. first time with it and yes ive got the sasser virus and the countdown begins for 60 seconds.
what do i do, yes i go to search file "lsass.exe" and i delete it from the system. that means i cant login now and it just goes to black screen. how do i get it back again in plain english cos im not very techy.

I take it you're running XP.

If the problem is booting up your laptop, I think you need to create some boot disks.

This site should explain it, hopefully in plain English. Scroll down to the post by Russ Wanchisen Jul 14, 2004, 08:41 AM.

turn laptop on.

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL whilst it's loading.

Load in MS-DOS mode

When prompted, type WIN

and once you do get everything back, enable the windows firewall at least... or get a proper firewall.

right now i got a problem

i did the boot up disc scenario and got 6 disks and that was fine and dandy. it then brought up a message to insert the xp cd so i took out the a:drive and put in the d:drive because they are in the same slot and one can only be used at the same time. I then wait about 2 minutes and then press enter but it tells me that no cd device is enable and that i have press f3 to quit and it restarts the computer.

WHAT NOW?

You'll need an external floppy drive. Get one from Argos, keep the receipt, when you've fixed it take it back.

i also posted this on another techy forum and the fella told me to go to the bios screen and make the cd drive run first instead of the flopy disk
